To cancel a Beagle Street life insurance policy you contact Beagle Street directly, by telephone or in writing, and the policy summary also lists an email address. Within 30 days of the policy start date you get your premiums back; after that you can still cancel, but nothing is refunded.
If you are cancelling because you want different cover, put your questions about new cover to an FCA-authorised broker while the Beagle Street policy is still running. Ask for that ring through the form on this page; Beagle Street customers pay nothing for it.
Which number, email or address do you use to cancel?
Beagle Street's Policy Terms & Conditions (print code 31590 002 04.2025) say: "You can contact us in writing, or by telephone." The policy summary (print code 31589 003 04.2026) sets out three routes in its cancellation rights section:
- email, to enquiries@beaglestreet.com;
- post, to Beagle Street, 16-17 West Street, Brighton, BN1 2RL;
- phone, on 0800 980 8806.
The summary gives other numbers for other purposes, and Beagle Street's contact page (read 27 October 2026) lists 0800 048 0480 for its team, open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, except Wednesdays, when it opens at 9:30am. Weekends are closed. Numbers change, so use the one printed on your own latest policy documents or the Beagle Street website. If your policy is older, check those papers first: Beagle Street's benefits terms show that, for quotes obtained before 19 September 2023, Beagle Street was a trading name of a different company, BGL Direct Life Limited.
Keep a note of who you spoke to and when, or keep a copy of any letter you send. The contact page asks anyone emailing for their full name, date of birth, email address, first line of address and postcode, so Beagle Street can identify you.
What happens to claims, the free will and joint or trust policies?
You cannot claim. The terms are plain: "You will not be able to make a claim once your policy has been cancelled." For critical illness and terminal illness claims, Beagle Street says that if a claim is not accepted, that may not prevent a future claim being accepted, and that "it is therefore important to pay every month and keep your policy in force while Critical Illness and Terminal Illness claims are being assessed". If a claim is in progress, speak to Beagle Street before you cancel anything.
The free will offer. Beagle Street's benefits terms (a web page read 27 October 2026) say a customer is eligible for the free simple will if "their policy is active, paid up to date and Beagle Street have not been instructed to cancel it". They also say Beagle Street "reserves the right to recover the full cost of the Free Will if the Policy is cancelled within six months of taking up this offer". The Beagle Street overview lists the other benefits.
Joint and trust policies. The terms describe a joint life policy as a single policy covering two people, so ending it ends the cover for both. Whether one of you can end it alone is covered in whether one person can cancel a joint policy, and a broker can explain how that works for your Beagle Street policy, free, when they ring you. Where a policy is in trust, the terms say the trustees "are the legal owners of the policy", so the decision is theirs; cancelling a policy in trust explains that route.
For what cancelling means for cover in general, the page on what happens if you cancel covers it across insurers.
Will Beagle Street refund your premiums?
It depends on when you cancel. The terms and the summary agree on the pattern:
| When you cancel | What the Policy Terms & Conditions say |
|---|---|
| Up to 30 days after the policy start date | "If you decide to cancel, we will refund any payments paid." |
| After the first 30 days | "You will not receive a refund of your payments if your policy is cancelled after the first 30 days." |
Both documents measure the 30 days from the policy start date, which is shown in your policy schedule. Other insurers can count from a different point, such as when the welcome pack arrives, so do not carry another firm's rule across; the cancellation period for life insurance page sets the insurers out one by one.
Does stopping the direct debit cancel the policy?
Not in the way a cancellation does. Cancelling tells Beagle Street you are ending the policy. Stopping the direct debit leaves Beagle Street to react to missed payments. Its terms say: "If you stop paying, we will let you know how long your grace period is to pay us your missed premium(s)." If the missed premiums are not paid by the end of that period, "your policy will stop, it will have no value and you will no longer be covered."
Beagle Street adds that it will contact you as soon as you miss a payment to offer an alternative way to pay. The terms give no single grace period: its length differs depending on your policy start date and your direct debit collection date. The policy summary says that no claim will be paid if you stop paying your direct debit and the policy ends.
So if you mean to end the policy, tell Beagle Street, so there is a record of what you chose. If you simply cannot afford the payments, say so when they contact you, because the terms mention an alternative way to pay.
What could you do instead of cancelling?
If the worry is the cost or the amount of cover, ask before you end the policy. Beagle Street's terms say: "Please contact us and we will let you know what options you have available." Depending on the change, Beagle Street may need to ask you more about your health and lifestyle.
If none of the options fit, the terms say you could apply for a new policy instead, which may sit alongside your current policy or replace it. Beagle Street says it will explain which before making changes, and that the terms of the new policy might differ from the old one. Any new application means answering the questions completely, accurately and truthfully, and your health or age may have changed since the first policy was written.
That is why the order matters. Ending a policy before a replacement is in place can leave you with no cover at all, and a new policy is never guaranteed. If you are thinking of moving, how to switch life insurance companies explains the steps, and the reviewing and switching guide sets the options side by side. Replacing Beagle Street cover is a separate step, and an FCA-authorised broker can discuss it with you when they ring after you finish the form on this page. Nothing is charged for it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel my Beagle Street life insurance by phone?
The policy summary gives 0800 980 8806 under cancellation rights, and the terms say you can cancel by telephone. Check the number against your own latest documents before you ring.
Can I cancel Beagle Street life insurance after 30 days?
Yes. The terms say you can still cancel after the first 30 days by contacting Beagle Street in writing or by telephone, and the summary says you can do it by contacting Beagle Street. Both say no refund is made after that point.
What if I started the policy by mistake or changed my mind this week?
Within 30 days of the policy start date, Beagle Street's documents say it will refund any payments paid. Contact it as soon as you can, since the 30 days run from the start date and not from the day you decide.
Who do I complain to if Beagle Street does not handle my cancellation properly?
Raise it with Beagle Street first, using the contact details in your terms. If you are not satisfied with its decision, or it has not given one in the time the FCA requires, the terms say you may be able to go to the Financial Ombudsman Service; the summary says that is open once eight weeks have passed since you first raised the matter.
Does Beagle Street charge anything when you cancel?
Beagle Street's terms and summary set out when premiums come back and when they do not. If you want to know whether anything else applies to your own policy, raise it with the broker who rings you; that conversation costs nothing.
